Abandoned after an accident, baby Mowgli is taken and raised by a family of wolves. As the boy grows older, the wise panther Bagheera realizes he must be returned to his own kind in the nearby man-village. Baloo the bear however thinks differently, taking the young Mowgli under his wing and teaching him that living in the jungle is the best life there is. Bagheera realizes that Mowgli is in danger, particularly from Shere Khan the tiger who hates all people. When Baloo finally comes around, Mowgli runs off into the jungle where he survives a second encounter with Kaa the snake and finally, with Shere Khan.
It's the sight of a pretty girl however that gets Mowgli to go to the nearby man-village and stay there. From the very first minute that Walt Disney conceived of 'The Jungle Book' he promised for the sakes of general audiences that he'd absolutely Pile Rudyard Kipling's classic book with energetic, toe-tapping, show-stopping music and unforgettable crazy songs though many people around him had doubts for the original novel was apparently quite serious. Throughout his entire career he had proved so many critics and members of his crew wrong, that he Could enhance the familiar yet ageing qualities of the original tellings of many of the world's most beloved classic books by putting his own magical, musical, charming, ambitious nature into them and would then transfer his versions onto film. Not once had he failed to prove the world and the world's opinions wrong in all his life and 'The Jungle Book' was no exception. It's got to be his own happiest, most carefree, most musical adventure movie to date!
I haven't read the book yet because I don't even have it though I do have a shortened Ladybird book of it but I haven't read that so I can't judge any inaccuracies or changes to the story but I'm positive there are some alterations - all for the best, of course. I must say that Mowgli is quite rebellious here and impudent.
He's always running away when things don't go his way, I've noticed he hits and threatens a lot of his friends and yet they still like him! Baloo is - as everyone sees him - so lovable and kind. For the first time in a Disney film, Sterling Holloway provides the voice for a villain - the murderous Kaa the python snake. For a happy-go-lucky cartoon, I think it's unpleasant how a bonkers snake could randomly get a little boy into his deadly coyles (at night at one point), hypnotize him and prepare to eat him! But at least Mowgli gets the last laugh by causing the python to have a knotted tail and shifting him off his tree. My favourite dance number has got to be with King Louis of the Apes in the ancient ruins ('I Wanna Be Like You') and how all the crazy dancing sends the ruins tumbling. My second favourite is 'Bare Necessities'.
In my opinion, the part where the mildly poor comedy comes in most of all is with Colonol Haithi and his elephants and his whiny wife; poor Verna Felton had Winifred the elephant as her final role on film. Colonol Haithi is supposed to be a no-nonsense, snooty leader but my eyes (and ears come to think of it) tell me that he is just a totally absurd loud-mouth. If there is any character in this film who won't stand for any nonsense it's Bagheera! Product key for autocad 2010. I know that all he really wants is for Mowgli to be safe and therefore return to the man-village but he was certainly a miserable old busybody after the King Louis scene.
He had the cheek to break up that special bond between Mowgli and Baloo that so many people have grown to love! Recently, I bought the twin DVD release of the Platinum Edition of 'The Jungle Book' from Woolworths and it was just amazing! Better than most Disney DVDs today (even though they're not bad themselves).

Don't get me wrong, Disney's new live-action update of The Jungle Book looks pretty amazing — it's got an Avatar-esque, grand, computer-generated style, an A-list cast of actors providing voices, and so far, it's getting fabulous reviews. But if you haven't yet seen the 1967 Disney animated version it's based on? Well, you need to get on that immediately, because it is pure, classic, sweet-childhood-memories, Disney perfection (just try to watch 'Bare Necessities' and not smile. So here's, because unless you still have a functioning VCR hanging around, that dusty VHS tape sitting in a box in your mom's basement isn't going to cut it. Unfortunately, The Jungle Book isn't available on Netflix, which totally sucks if that's your online streaming go-to.
But the good news is there are a number of other options available if you want to watch it online: iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and YouTube all have The Jungle Book available for download, but only for purchase, not for rent (groan). Of course, there is also always the DVD/Blu-ray route if that's more your style, in which with that as well.
Flexz on YouTube Either way, one thing that's worth noting is that, according to Vulture, the plot line of both the 1967 animated version and Jon Favreau's live-action CGI version are more or less the same. That is, a baby boy named Mowgli is abandoned in the jungle and raised by the animals as a 'man cub.' The other animals mostly welcome and protect him, except for the tiger, Shere Khan, who is decidedly not a fan of little Mowgli. So, in order to keep him safe, his wolf family decides he should go back to his village, and adventure ensures.
(It's also valuable to note that Baloo, this time voiced by Bill Murray, does sing 'The Bare Necessities' in the updated film as well, hooray!). But Murray isn't the only familiar voice who is involved in the film, according to Vox., the panther who watches over Mowgli throughout the film, while Shere Khan, the tiger villain, is played by Idris Elba.
Scarlett Johanssen lends her voice to Kaa, the totally creepy python, and Lupita Nyong'o plays Mowgli's adoptive wolf-mama that he has to leave behind (tear!). Disney Movie Trailers on YouTube But while both versions actually seem pretty fantastic, there is one reason you might want to be a little more careful about approaching the new version: little kids mightthan the classic.

Even though The Jungle Book is technically a children's story, all that 3-D, CGI goodness can seem awfully life-like at times, and Mowgli's journey isn't an easy or safe one. So, you could always warm your kid up to the scary parts of the story with the original movie and then go for the newer version. Either way you're going to get to see a great version of 'The Bare Necessities.'
