By yensid98 No, you didn’t miss-read the title. These new Mickey Mouse shorts definitely have taken lessons from Ren & Stimpy and it’s wonderful to see.
The almost uncontrolled zaniness of these new Mickey Mouse shorts is a marvel. There’s a sense that anything can happen, and it does. It’s simply wonderful to see these classic characters embrace their cartoony-ness (removing body parts, peeling faces off pavement, etc.).
They feel more alive than they have in many years. It’s at once a return their earliest years and a bold step in a new direction. Just what is needed to keep these excellent characters fresh yet still maintain their own unique style.
